This magazine from the British Council has been appearing since 1991. Its history reveals the changes which have taken place during the last decade - initially its focus was on British Studies, today it is in the process of reinventing/ rebranding itself as Intercultural Studies - initially it was only in hard copy, today it is primarily available electronically. Hence its appearance here.

The reasoning for changing the name is:
Our approach to British Studies has always been founded on the meeting of cultures. For this reason we are re-positioning British Studies within the wider field of Intercultural Studies which we are developing as a resource for the British Council, its partners and customers. Intercultural Studies will play a key role in our ongoing thinking about cultural relations.

The magazine has a number of functions - it is in part a house journal for the BC in the field of cultural studies with news and reports of events, but it also publishes a range of papers in the cultural studies field of wider interest.
