Gender Bender Names - Quiz

Before doing these activities, you might like to look at the discussion points in What's in a Name.

Introduction

There are some names which may be either female or male. For example the name 'Alex' may be a short form of 'Alexander' or 'Alexandra', and 'Chris' for 'Christine' or 'Christopher'. There are also names which sound the same but differ in spelling, e.g. Francis is male but Frances is female.

Activity I

Decide which name in each pair is a man's and which a woman's name.
